Overview
- The most common problems due to faulty defrost system in our refrigerator are:The refrigerator/freezer does not defrost.The freezer is cool, but fridge stays warm.Refrigerator bimetal defrost thermostat. The thermostat opens when the temperature is above 140 degrees Fahrenheit and closes when the temperature is below 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
- The defrost thermostat / bi-metal protector is a thermal cut-off that will break connection to the heater if the unit becomes too warm. These are typically a thermostat of last resort, so if continuity dies, the heater is rendered totally inoperable, and a new unit needs purchased before the heater can run again properly.
